Before & After

This morning I am going for my first ultrasound for this pregnancy! The hubs and I are really looking forward to it! I'll be about 22 weeks alsong. I'm hoping the new baby will cooperate (s)he has been a real stinker the last 24 hours kicking me in ways that I did not know a baby this small could kick! It felt like I was being head-butted from the inside!! We will try to find out this baby's gender and I'll post the results sometime later today :)

So anyway... Here is my photo for today's before & after. It's a photo I took on Monday, during my photo walk.  When I looked down and saw these dead brown leaves surrounded by new spring blossom petals I just knew I had to photograph it!

I'm not sure that I am 100% satisfied with the results. Editing is still not my strong suit, for sure.I'm not sure if I ought to have gone darker with it? Do you like this crop? I tried it three other ways before I settled on this one. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I love your crop and I love how you made it warm and comforting. You gave it a feel. When I'm editing I almost always contrast too much and make it too deep. I'm jealous of those who have a more feminine eye. Nice!

Looks great! :)

I agree with Nicole. The lightness reminds me of how the petals just floated down to the ground. The contrast of fall to spring is contrast enough. I love the subtlety

The edit really looks a lot better than the sooc. Much warmer tones and a bit of a nostalgia feel. Good work!

I think it looks great! I love the contrast and how it bumped it up just enough without overdoing it! Pretty flower petals :) Makes me look forward to spring a little more!

I like the lightness of it overall and how you added warmth to it. It seems to lose a little bit of the focus without the contrast just on the main leaves, I would love to see just a tad more contrast to the main leaves but with the rest light and airy like you have it. Nice!

When I saw the original my thought was "crop in! crop in!" lol

I might have gone a little tighter (hard to tell without trying it). And maybe a little darker? The petals on the rock add wonderful interest, but they are kind of washed out in the edit. But I love the shot! Finding those moments are gifts to me. =)

Hi Faith!

I'm new to reading your blog, but love it so far. :)

Congrats on the pregnancy. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound on Tuesday. I'm going to have another boy, which is awesome! This baby moves around a lot too, much more than my first son did. I even had it confirmed during the ultrasound because the baby was going crazy. it was so neat to watch. Enjoy yours!

About the photo-I love it! The contrast between the new and dead leaves is beautiful. I also love the crop. Personally, I would have wanted the contrast between the two colors of the dead leaves and the new leaves to have been more evident in the final edit. I think the action you used washed the colors out a bit too much. But that's just my opinion.

The photo is gorgeous, regardless.

Take care and enjoy that ultrasound!

I really like the colour tone and feel.

the crop could be square (i'm a sucker for square crops anyway) maybe.

I love the crop. I am so unsure about my editing all. the. time. and I tend to lean toward more shadows. BUT, I really like this too!

just found you and I am so glad. =)

I like the crop a lot, but I wish that branch wasn't in the way. I LOVE the tone of the edited shot, but I feel some of the details are lost in the brightness. My favorite thing about pictures of rocks and dirt are the textures! Lovely!

I completely missed this one this morning - but I love what you've done. I'm going to refollow you to see if that corrects the problem.

I love the crop and the tone! Can't wait to hear what you are going to have!
